Document 19: Fitzhugh letter, Rampart, Alaska, July 2, 1899.

Alaska Mines

I will certainly stay in another year. It is hard beyond anything you can believe, but then I know if I were to go home "busted" or almost so, that after the first few days or weeks of thankful feelings and cleanings up, there will come that problem: "What next? Where will I get a job? etc." I have cut loose and learned a new life, and I must stay with it at least another year.

Hunter Fitzhugh letter, Rampart City, AK
