The Visiting Faculty Housing Service (VFHS) has Closed its “Doors” after 36 Years
With great sadness, the VFHS terminated its services to incoming UW faculty, visiting scholars, and researchers. During its 36-year tenure hundreds of faculty were served through successful searches for short-term housing. Donations from users of the service provided thousands of dollars benefiting UW students through annual scholarships.
We urge incoming faculty members to work with their UW departments to find alternative local services that can help with housing searches.
The many volunteers of the VFHS and the skeleton crew that maintained our remote office during the Covid shut-down of the University feel honored to have been of service to the UW and its new faculty members and visitors. Each of us holds warm memories of new friends and successful “matches” made during our VFHS office work.
Donations are gratefully received to benefit the UW Faculty Auxiliary Scholarship program.
