UW Emergency Management

UW EOC Tours & Personal Preparedness Workshop

UPDATE: We are now pleased to offer monthly virtual personal preparedness courses beginning December 2021.  If you would like to attend, please reach out to disaster@uw.edu. NOTE: EOC Tours will NOT be offered until further notice.

Whether you’re ready to build a kit for your family, are worried about the “Big One”, or are trying to better prepare your team to respond to campus after an emergency, personal preparedness is essential to taking care of yourself in any disaster.

April EOC Tour and ClassUW Emergency Management offers FREE personal preparedness presentations at the Emergency Operations Center each month.  These interactive sessions provide an overview of the university’s disaster response system, provide an overview of UWEM, and provides practical tips on how participants can become better prepared at work and at home for any disaster – large or small.

If your department would like department, or office, training, please reach out to us to schedule your virtual preparedness training opportunity!

Just want to take an online preparedness course? UWEM worked together with UW Facilities to develop this online version of our preparedness course.  Note: You need an UW NetID to access this course.  You can access the training here!

These trainings are open to any UW student, faculty, or staff member.  The location of the seminar (or EOC/offices) is at the UW Tower complex,, which is a secured-access building.  In order to get into the building, each person must have their Husky Card to gain access.

While registration is not required, we humbly request that you let us know if you plan on stopping by sending an email to disaster@uw.edu.   Any groups with more than ten (10) attendees must notify UWEM staff via email in order to assure space and to accommodate seating, as necessary.

Finally, as a reminder … as UWEM has a priority function as an emergency response unit, we reserve the right to cancel any monthly seminar without notice due to unplanned priority activities or crisis response.  Registered students will be given priority attendance slots in the next monthly class.
