About Learning
at the Leading Edge
Learning
at the Leading Edge is an invitation to find out more about people engaged
in learning, research and service here at the UW. It will be a revolving
showcase of bright students, pioneering discoveries, and real-life connections
the UW makes in communities around the state of Washington.
Our goal
is to become the "university of the future", one in which
old barriers are breached and disparate strengths are united. Building
new interdisciplinary programs is one obvious route to that future.
But we aim toward integration on other fronts as well. We foresee a
university where research and service become integral parts of undergraduate
education; where the liberal-arts world and the high-tech world exchange
insights and ideas; where faculty, staff, and students join forces to
open the University to new kinds of students and new areas of service;
and where we multiply working relationships with the world beyond our
campuses.
Do you
know any UW students, faculty, staff, or other people who belong on
these pages? We would like to hear from you. Please e-mail us at univrel@u.washington.edu,
or call Harry Hayward in University Relations at (206) 543-2560.
