Undergraduate Research Program

Summer research beyond UW

Summer research programs give students the opportunity to have an immersive research experience during the summer period that might not be possible during the school year. Summer programs are a great chance for students to try something new or take their experience to the next level.

There are hundreds of summer programs hosted at other universities that may be of interest to UW students. We maintain a partial list of summer research programs around the U.S. and the world, with links to other searchable summer research program databases. If you find any broken links, please email urp@uw.edu.

National Science Foundation Programs

The National Science Foundation (NSF) funds many Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in a range of academic disciplines at sites across the country. Search for an NSF REU site.

Pathways to Science search tool

The Institute for Broadening Participation’s Pathways to Science project maintains a searchable database of programs in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.

Please check program sites for specific eligibility criteria and information. International students should also use the Advanced Search feature of the Pathways to Science database to limit their search to opportunities open to non-US citizens.
