A major PETTT effort is a collaboration with a senior researcher in the database group at Microsoft research, senior faculty in the Information School, and UW graduate students to explore a knowledge management system in which (1) educational content is organized into a multimedia XML database by author-friendly templates, (2) the learner accesses the information using natural language questions which are processed into a resource description (RDF) framework and matched against authoritative content, and (3) the efficacy of the program is rigorously evaluated.
