During the first order of business, the council discussed various topics to be addressed during the upcoming Advising Council Retreat. With dates still tentative, Cynthia suggested to maybe take a half-day during February. Ed Taylor also suggested having a planning group to organize the key issues that need to be discussed during the retreat.
During this discussion, Janice Decosmo stepped in and discussed her committee work on the committee convened to investigate the feasibility and possible models to implement direct admission to colleges and schools. Their recommendations are due at the end of May. Janice will meet initially with Clay and Cynthia, but invited comment from all members of the UAAC.
Lastly, Mel made a suggestion that for the Advising Council Retreat, we discuss goals to be set for the council and what could be done for the remainder of this academic year along with the next academic year as well.
