Q. What do 10 students from the Robinson Center for Young Scholars have in common with 17 U.S. presidents, 38 U.S. Supreme Court Justices, 136 Nobel laureates, fashion consultant Carson Kressley, actress Glenn Close, poet Rita Dove, broadcaster Tom Browkaw, and Rivers Cuomo, the guitarist and singer for Weezer?

A. They are all members of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest academic honor society.

This spring, ten students from the Robinson Center for Young Scholars received word that they were to be inducted into the national Phi Beta Kappa honor society. About 200 UW students were nominated to the society.

According to the Phi Beta Kappa website, “The ideal Phi Beta Kappan has demonstrated intellectual integrity, tolerance for other views, and a broad range of academic interests. Each year, about one college senior in a hundred, nationwide, is invited to join Phi Beta Kappa.” About one in five Robinson Center seniors became members of Phi Beta Kappa.

Congratulations to all newly inducted Phi Beta Kappa members!
