In honor of the ideals of Martin Luther King, Jr., the Carlson Center is coordinating the 9th Annual MLK, Jr. Day of Service. Each year on MLK, Jr. Day of Service, UW students, staff, faculty, alumni, family and friends serve organizations across King County by beautifying transitional housing facilities, clearing invasive plant growth in Seattleās natural habitats, improving neighborhood parks, sorting donated food and clothing, cleaning, painting, and doing outreach for Earned Income Tax Credit programs. Participation has grown each year, last year reaching 1,300 volunteers.
