Collegium on Large Class Instruction
This program focuses on strengthening, improving and identifying the needs of instructors and students of large classes particularly those with one hundred or more. Faculty who participate in this two-day Spring Quarter program work closely with senior colleagues in a relaxed environment off campus. Faculty attend various sessions, work in groups and address teaching concerns. Offered every odd year.

 

Institute for Teaching Excellence
This one-week program in June takes faculty off-campus into a secluded environment. Here, faculty actively participant in sessions taught by senior colleagues known for their teaching abilities. Faculty participants use the week to gather new ideas, tools and strategies they've learned and apply it to one of their courses or seminars of choice. The week concludes with each participant presenting their work to fellow colleagues. Offered every even year.

 

Faculty Workshops on Teaching and Learning
Sponsored by the Office of the Provost, these quarterly workshops are free and open to all teaching faculty from the Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma campuses. Each workshop, focused on a particular subject, is taught by knowledgeable individuals in that area of study. Previous workshops have included topics on effective lecturing, leading seminars, writing, etc. Workshops are available on a first-come first serve basis.

 

Faculty Fellows Program
Faculty Fellows is a one-of-a-kind program that takes new UW faculty and introduces them to the campus, its resources, students and colleagues. This one-week program in September focuses on an idea each day, inviting speakers to address various topics from tenure, to incorporating undergraduates in research and popular local places where faculty go to relax. It's an informal way for new faculty to familiarize themselves with the UW while making new connections.
