Participate in the event

In addition to attending the event, there are several ways the UW community can participate in this historic event.

Justice Sotomayor will also visit Town Hall the evening of March 10 for a public event.

How to attend the event

This event is SOLD OUT.

If you do not have a ticket, standby seating for UW undergraduates, graduate and professional students, and faculty and staff will begin 10 minutes before the event begins, as space permits. The standby line will open at 12:00 p.m. You must have your Husky Card for entry. Please review the event notices below for other important information.

UW undergraduates

  • Tickets for UW undergraduates will be available at the HUB info desk beginning February 25.
  • One ticket per person; you must show your UW Husky Card to get a ticket.
  • Tickets will be distributed from the HUB info desk Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The HUB info desk is not open on the weekends.

UW graduate and professional students

  • Remaining tickets will be available at the HUB info desk for UW graduate and professional students beginning February 27.
  •  One ticket per person; you must show your UW Husky Card to get a ticket.
  • Tickets will be distributed from the HUB info desk Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The HUB info desk is not open on the weekends.

UW faculty and staff

  • Remaining tickets will be available at the HUB info desk for UW faculty and staff beginning March 4.
  • One ticket per person; you must show your UW Husky Card to get a ticket.
  • Tickets will be distributed from the HUB info desk Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The HUB info desk is not open on the weekends.

Important event notices

  • Doors to the HUB Ballroom open at 1:00 p.m. Please plan to arrive early to allow time for security check.
  • Guests must be seated by 1:50 p.m.
  • You must have your event ticket and UW Husky Card for entry. Your ticket cannot be reproduced if lost.
  • No re-entry. (Please use the restrooms prior to entry.)
  • This event is general admission. The line will form at the south end of the HUB.
  • Photographing or recording the event is strictly prohibited.
  • Backpacks, purses, or bags of any kind will not be allowed into the venue. You are strongly encouraged to attend without a bag/backpack. A bag check will be available in the HUB Lyceum for anyone arriving with a bag/backpack.

Read the book

Copies of My Beloved World will be available free of charge to undergraduates, while supplies last. Bring your event ticket to First Year Programs in Mary Gates Hall 120 and get your copy.

My Beloved World is also available at the University Book Store. Books will be available for sale by the University Book Store after the event.

Seminars

As a component to Justice Sotomayor’s visit to campus, several faculty members held seminars that examined My Beloved World in light of their perspectives as scholars. Students in these seminars received free copies of the memoir and have reserved seating for the March 10 event.
