Aloha! My name is Jodene Davis, I'm a UW alum with a BA in English. I have been working at UW for many years first with Housing and Food Services admin and then directly with undergraduates through the Mary Gates Endowment programs. I love meeting students and learning about their lives and dreams for the future. Our small team is dedicated to creating a warm and friendly environment where students can share their ideas and discuss how a Mary Gates scholarship can help them accomplish their goals.
This summer I accompanied an Exploration Seminar to American Samoa and Samoa--it was an amazing trip and I'm excited about sharing my mini-study abroad experience with anyone who asks. My picture (above) was taken inside the ruins of a church overtaken by lava in the early 1900s in Saleaula Village, Savai'i, Samoa. In the fall you can find me in Husky stadium cheering for purple and gold even when the scoreboard is not in our favor. Otherwise, I'm spending time with my husband and two young daughters or working in the Center for Experiential Learning. Stop by suite 120 next time you're in Mary Gates Hall.

Hello! I recently graduated from the UW with my B.A. in International Studies (spring 2008). I received a Mary Gates Honors scholarship my freshman year. I have worked for the Endowment for two years, during which time I can say that I’ve been incredibly impressed by the work UW undergraduates do. I love getting to see students from all across campus get excited about starting their own project and then watch them carry it out.
As a student (and hopefully soon as a working adult!) I've enjoyed traveling and learning new languages. I've spent a few summers in Brazil, Peru and Bolivia to learn/practice Spanish and Portuguese, and my senior year I spent four months abroad to do research on the Peruvian educational system. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, and going on walks. I also love making crafts, especially handmade cards. Please feel free to drop by our office—we are a friendly group and would love to talk with you about how we could support you to pursue and accomplish your goals.
