Venture Nomination Instructions
Until further notice, we are not accepting nominations for Venture Scholarships. Effective March 1, 2009.
Nominations may be made at any time by UW faculty and should be a statement of strong support for the candidate and the project. Elements of nominations should include:
- Description of the project and its significance.
- Evidence of the student’s preparation to take on the proposed project including the ability to work independently.
- Evidence of the student’s ability to commit to and complete the project.
- How the candidate compares with other students and other Mary Gates Scholars.
- How the award would make a difference to the student and his/her learning.
- Commitment to support the student throughout the project (advice, ideas, mentoring).
- Student's full name and email address.
Faculty mentors are encouraged to read through the criteria and guidelines for student proposals so that nominations and proposals are complementary and, when read together, provide a holistic representation of the student's capabilities and plans.
