Things to be aware of

Note: The current P&O program at UW is an undergraduate degree; within a few years, it will become a graduate program. Please consult the department’s website for developing information.

The program requires involvement in activities or work related to the health professions. Applicants are encouraged to work or volunteer in the profession itself. The program requires three reference forms from individuals who can assess your aptitude for health care.

Preparing for the major

All interested students should make an appointment with a health science adviser in the Gateway Center (171 MGH) and become familiar with the program’s web page.

General advice

There are only six P&O programs in the U.S. at this time. You are encouraged to apply widely because all programs are competitive.
