The 24th annual CC/UW Advising Conference is a place for sharing information on community college and UW programs and policies, a forum to discuss information pertaining to transfer students, and an opportunity to meet with colleagues around the state and to share innovative ideas that will help serve students.

CC to PhD: Guiding Transfer Students to Grad School Alma Emadi, Industrial Engineering major; Will Mari, Communication Ph.D. student; Steven Simpkins, Nursing Ph.D. student; moderated by Raven Avery, UW Seattle This panel features students who began at community college, transferred to the UW, and are successfully pursuing graduate school in the sciences and humanities. Panelists will share their experiences and advice, so you can help guide students along the path from CC to PhD. We will also highlight programs that assist students on this journey. EXPERIENCE TRANSFER THURSDAY Conference participants are invited to participate in a regularly scheduled Transfer Thursday, right alongside students who will be in attendance. Community college advisers can attend the sessions your students attend, hear the questions your students are asking. UW advisers can hear the messages prospective students are given by Admissions and learn how other departments handle prospective students at Transfer Thursday events. Attend any and all parts that are of interest to you! Admissions & General Education for Transfer Students During this session you will be able to be a part of an actual Transfer Thursday admissions information session. Listen to prospective UW transfer students ask questions as we review the Transfer Admissions & Planning (TAP) Guide. Be a part of the discussion. Ask questions. It’s all live! International Student Admissions & General Education for Transfer Students Applying to the UW as an international student is a once-a-year prospect. Come learn the details of the process and how to advise your international students. Campus Tour! Did you know that in the past 7 years, the UW has built or remodeled more than 55 buildings on campus? Take a tour with one of the Admissions Office undergraduate tour guides, the folks who introduce 16,000 visitors to campus each year, and get to know our campus a little better! Tour starts at Mary Gates Hall, meet in the foyer by the north doors. Admissions Follow-up: Just for Advisers After the actual Transfer Thursday admissions information session ends, ask the admissions counselor for clarification or more detail. Experts in the English Language Proficiency requirement will be present. Domestic and international follow-up questions welcome. Campus Tour!
