Information for Departments
Call for Facilitators
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is seeking applications for TA and RA facilitators for workshops at this year’s conference. Facilitators are provided with resource packets for workshops, attend workshop planning meetings, and receive a stipend.
Please inform experienced TAs and RAs in your department of this opportunity and direct them to the Information for Facilitators page to apply.
Informing Your TAs and RAs about the Conference
CTL will send departments the conference invitation as a PDF, which you can then forward on to your new TAs and RAs directly.
The conference registration process will be the same as in past years. Registration will be open from June 23rd through August 3rd. This year, department contacts will be cc’ed on all registration confirmation emails for the graduate students in the department. So, you’ll be able to follow who has registered for the conference and what workshops they’ve registered for. If a student needs to change his/her registration, please see information on the FAQs webpage.
This year we are encouraging students to take the conference for academic credit. To do so, students register for GRDSCH 615A (1 cr.) in Autumn Quarter. In addition to attending a minimum of five sessions at the conference, students will be required to complete three brief assignments over Autumn Quarter through the course Canvas website. Please let your students know your recommendations regarding registering for GRDSCH 615A.
TAs and RAs who do not sign up by August 4th are still welcome to attend the conference. However, they will not be assured a seat in every workshop they would like to attend. Late registration information will be on the Conference Registration webpage after August 4th.
Department Workshop Recommendations
Many departments recommend specific workshops for their TAs and RAs to attend. If you would like to recommend workshops, please do so in the email you send along with the conference invitation. For more information about what workshops will be offered this year and what times each workshop is offered, see Workshop Descriptions and Conference Program.
Note: Space is limited for the UW-IT and UW Libraries workshops, so please encourage your TAs and RAs to register early.
Participation in the Conference
Two weeks after the conference, we will send you a list of the TAs and RAs from your department who participated in the conference and what workshops they attended. We hope that this information is helpful to your department in planning.
If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the CTL at 206-543-6588.
