The Center for Teaching and Learning is dedicated to supporting faculty, instructors and TAs at all levels of expertise. Our programs are designed to offer faculty and TAs a wide array of resources, information and opportunities to network. Those new to the UW teaching community will find our beginning of year programs — Faculty Fellows and the TA/RA conference — of particular value.
The Center for Teaching and Learning offers several experiential courses for graduate students during the academic year. Each evidence-based course encourages students to reflect and participate by engaging in active learning.
The Faculty Fellows Program orients new faculty to the University campus community. It is facilitated by a number of campus educators, including those that have received campus-wide teaching awards. Presenters and facilitators actively engage our new faculty members on a number of topics including, but not limited to, effective teaching methods and techniques for balancing the demands of successful teaching and research.
The International TA Program helps prepare newly appointed international TAs for their roles as graduate Teaching Assistants at the University of Washington, and assists them while they are teaching. All international graduate students are welcome to participate in the International TA Program, including program events, workshops, and individual consultations on teaching.
The annual TA/RA Conference on Teaching, Learning and Research is designed to help graduate students prepare for their roles and responsibilities as Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Research Assistants (RAs) at the UW.
