Throughout the year, the Center for Teaching and Learning sponsors campus and tri-campus wide opportunities for faculty, teaching assistants, and professional staff to come together and talk about pedagogy. These programs and events constitute communities of practice that are designed to help UW instructors explore the research on learning and teaching, share innovations, and form professional partnerships that support the advancement and refinement of participants’ teaching expertise.
The Collegium offers faculty, particularly those who teach large classes, an opportunity to come together and discuss challenges they face and changes they would like to implement in their teaching.
Learning Communities bring together educators from different disciplines to discuss, reflect, and collaborate on a teaching and learning topic of mutual interest. Together participants pursue shared instructional objectives, model peer learning practices, and promote lifelong learning in an atmosphere of mutual support and discovery.
CTL offers workshops, seminars, and conversations for instructors on a variety of teaching and learning topics. They are designed to meet the needs of both seasoned professionals and newcomers. Each session offers the opportunity to discuss shared experiences and knowledge with colleagues. Visit our calendar of events page for information on upcoming workshops.
