The University of Washington has a long history of educating UW Veterans returning from military service. We are honored to continue this valuable tradition as a new generation serves and returns to higher education. We are committed to ensuring their academic success and value their addition to our campus community. Our goal is to see them through to graduation and onwards to a new career.
Funds are needed for a counseling staff focused on the needs of student veterans and to renovate and equip a dedicated space for all of these counseling services to be in one place our student veterans can call "home". We can use funds for workshops to provide educational programming for our faculty and staff to ensure their awareness of student veterans needs.
Although our student veterans often come with VA educational benefits to help them fund their education, there are times when additional scholarship dollars can make the difference in finishing their degree program and filling in when their benefits are too low to cover their full costs.
