In addition to AMS's society awards and medals, AMS presents AMS Industry/Minority Scholarships, AMS/Industry Undergraduate Scholarships, AMS Undergraduate Scholarships, Fellowship in the History of Science, and AMS/Industry/Government Graduate Fellowships to the nation's future meteorologists, oceanographers, hydrologists, and climatologists each year. Along with AMS, leading environmental science and service corporations, government agencies, and members support the scholarships and fellowships. The graduate fellowships and undergraduate scholarships help to further the education of our future scientists.Eligibility
AMS offers five different types of scholarships to undergraduate students. The criteria varies with each scholarship. Please check the website for the detailed criteria. You may be eligible if you meet one of the eligibilities below.
- Minority students entering their freshman year of college in the fall. Students must plan to pursue careers in the atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic sciences.
- Full-time students entering their junior year in the fall.
- Enrolled full time in an accredited U.S. institution.
- Students entering their first year of graduate study in the fall of 2007 who wish to pursue advanced degrees in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences are eligible to apply.
- Candidates currently studying chemistry, computer sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, mathematics, and physics who intend to pursue careers in the atmospheric, oceanic, or hydrologic sciences are also encouraged to apply.
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status and must be pursuing a degree at a U.S. institution.

Applications are available for download in PDF formate on the website (beginning September). If you are unable to print an application, you may request one, by mailing a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the address below.
