Private Non-University Scholarship Checks

Scholarship checks from private foundations or organizations should be made payable to the University of Washington. Checks that require endorsement by both you and the University of Washington delay disbursement of your funds.

If the sponsor requires that the check be made payable to both you and the University of Washington, the sponsor should mail the check directly to you for endorsement. After signing the check, you need to mail or bring the check to Student Fiscal Services. If the sponsor sends a check requiring your endorsement directly to Student Fiscal Services, the check will be returned to the sponsor.

Please have the sponsor include the following information with the check:

Your full name
Your UW student number or your social security number
Quarter or academic year that the payment covers
Sponsor's full address, including fax and email address if available
