The Student Fiscal Services Office accepts all private scholarship checks on behalf of current UW students and students who have been accepted into the University for future quarters. If you have received a private or non-University sponsored scholarship, you must notify your sponsor which college or university you are attending.
You must be registered for classes for the current quarter before any funds can be released to pay your tuition or for you to pick up a check. Your sponsor determines whether your funds will automatically pay your tuition, or if you will be issued a check. If you are not registered for the current quarter, the funds may be applied to a future quarter.
If not otherwise stated by the sponsor, all checks for $3000 or more will be split over the academic year according the the quarter in which it is received. Checks for less than $3000 will be applied in full toward the current quarter.
If you will not be attending the University of Washington, the sponsor may request a refund from the Student Fiscal Services Office. If you will be attending another college, your sponsor may request in writing that the funds be transferred to the other school.
If you are registered only for UW extension classes, scholarship funds can not be released to pay your tuition or to print you a check. Check with UW Extension for payment instructions.
Checks that require both the endorsement of you and the University of Washington delays disbursement of your funds. If the sponsor requires that the check be made payable to both you and the University of Washington, the sponsor should mail the check directly to you for endorsement. After signing the check, you need to mail or bring the check to the Student Fiscal Services Office.
If the sponsor sends a check requiring your endorsement directly to Student Fiscal Services, the check will be returned to the sponsor.
Scholarship checks should be mailed to:
