- Share living costs with a roommate or
two.

usage as much as possible.
- Limit long-distance calls to off-peak
hours.
|
Food |
- Limit costly foods such as gourmet
items.
- Clip coupons and check weekly ads for
specials.
- Make meals at home instead of eating
out.
- Don't buy more than you will use.
|
Transportation |
- Use public transportation. Many schools offer
discounted bus passes.
- Carpool - Save gas and money.
- Shop around for the best insurance deal. You
may be able to get a lower rate by selecting
coverage with a higher deductible, or by
remaining on your parents' policy.
|
Clothing |
- Watch for sales. Buy clothes at the end of
the season when they are discounted.
- Shop at resale, factory outlet and discount
stores, but be sure to check that their prices
are indeed lower than retail.
|
Cellular Phone |
- There are charges for both incoming
and outgoing calls. You will not save your free
airtime by having people call you.
- Be aware of hidden charges such as roaming
and early termination of service.
- Keep track of your minutes and check your
bill when it arrives so that you aren't charged
for extra minutes at a higher rate.
|
Entertainment |
- Stay home with friends. Cook dinners
together, rent movies, play a board game or just
have a nice chat.
- Use the library, it's free! Check out books,
magazines, cd's or videos.
