If there are no registration or transcript holds on your record and you have not been dropped for low scholarship, you will usually be readmitted.
Returning students who have been away from the University less than two quarters have the highest priority for readmission. A student previously enrolled in an academic program with restricted enrollment and/or special admission requirements should consult his or her advisor about procedures for readmission into the same program. If you are not readmitted into your special program, you will be readmitted as a pre-major in the College of Arts and Sciences.
You will be sent an Offer of Admission shortly after the application date
of the quarter you have requested. You must pay a nonrefundable Enrollment
Confirmation Deposit which applies toward your tuition by the date
indicated on your Offer of Admission. Your deposit needs to be paid
before you will be allowed to register for the quarter. Undergraduate
students returning to the University register during Registration Period
II.
Graduate Student Returning from On-leave
Graduate students who are returning from official On-leave are not
required to fill out a Returning Student application, and they
register during Registration Period II.
See On-Leave Policy for
information on applying for On-leave status.
Returning Summer-only Students
You may return each summer as a non-matriculated student (not seeking a
degree from the University of Washington) by submitting the summer-only
returning student application found on the back of the Summer Quarter
Bulletin.
The application deadline to mail your application in June 1st. After this date, you may still apply in person by bringing your application to the Registration Office, 225 Schmitz Hall.
You will be sent an Offer of Admission after your application has been
processed. During summer quarter, you are not requested to pay the
nonrefundable Enrollment Confirmation Deposit. You are eligible to
register as soon as your application has been processed and registration
for summer quarter has begun. The earlier you apply, the earlier you may
register. Please see the Academic Calendar for
registration dates.
Returning After Graduation
If you have graduated either from the University of Washington or from
another institution, you may return to the University in a new admission
status or as a summer-only non-matriculated student. You must complete the
appropriate application for your new status through the appropriate
admission office.
If you want to complete another undergraduate
degree, you will need to apply as a postbaccalaureate student through the
Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If you want to pursue a professional
degree in Law, Dentistry, or Medicine, you will need to apply directly
through the respective schools. If you want to pursue a graduate degree or
admission as a Graduate Non-Matriculated student, you will need to apply
through the appropriate academic department. You will need to pay the
appropriate application fee for each application.
