Discrete Structures II

Covers advanced topics in discrete mathematics, including advanced counting techniques, relations, graphs, trees, and models of computation such as finite state machines and Turing machines. Prerequisite: TCSS 321.

Class description

This course will build on previous mathematical and programming knowledge. It will emphasize mathematical applications to computer science. It will cover advanced counting techniques, discrete probability, relations, graphs, finite state machines.

Student learning goals

learn a language called "Mathematics"

learn how mathematical concepts and computers interact

learn how to construct mathematical models for solving real world problems
