WOMEN 453
Seattle Campus
An exploration and overview of lesbianism in historical, social, cultural, and interpersonal contexts. Prerequisite: either WOMEN 200 or WOMEN 206.
Class description
LLC looks at the history of and theories about women attracted to women who were called by various names--lesbian, dyke, butch, femme, queer, sapphist, romantic friend and many others--or who were nameless and invisible. Other than their same-sex attraction, these women were quite diverse by time, culture, race, class, politics, and outlaw status; we will explore these differences. There will also be presentations and discussions by students of current topics related to course content.
