Readings in pedagogical theory of technical communication and discussion of practical applications. Credit/no credit only. Prerequisite: concurrent teaching appointment or permission of instructor. Offered: AWSpS.
Class description
Autumn and winter quarter, the focus is on teaching TC 231 or TC 333 for the first time. Discussion of assignments, common issues in teaching, etc. Typical topics are: facilitating discussion, dealing with difficult students, working with students during office hours, grading writing assignments. During spring quarter, the focus switches to building a teaching portfolio.

Weekly meetings are in seminar/discussion format. CR/NC only.
Recommended preparation
Concurrent teaching appointment, usually 231/333. Spring quarter (developing a teaching portfolio) may be of interested to instructors teaching any TC course.
Class assignments and grading
No grades, but all meetings must be attended to recieve credit. MSTC students cannot count 597 credits towards their degrees. PhD students may be able to count 597 credits, please consult your committee chair.
