Class description
Learn to take a design through preflight, prepress, printing, bindery and delivery. We'll learn about inks, paper, different printing methods, retouching photos and the aspects of bindery and fulfillment. We'll also look at great ad campaigns both integrated online and in print.
Student learning goals
Print a project on press and know what printers are talking about.
Learn the difference between inks and paper.
Be able to talk printer language and know the production vocabulary.
Will know advertising budgets and costs for printing projects.
General method of instruction
Hands-on projects in class, working in team environments and touring vendor shops. Guest speakers will attend the class talking about prepress and preflight of files, paper and taking your project into the prepress world.
Recommended preparation
Reading the weekly chapters in the required text book and participation in class.
Class assignments and grading
Individual project, Mid term and Final Team Presentation.
