Practicum in Audiology

Guided experiences in audiological assessment and aural rehabilitation of children and adults. Credit/no credit only. Offered: AWSpS.

Class description

What audiologists do in diverse practice settings. Typical career paths in audiology. Current topics in best practices, professional, and ethical issues in the field of audiology.

Student learning goals

General method of instruction

Mentored schedule of observations and some hands-on experiences in a wide variety of settings with audiologic services. Group discussion of experiences and topics of interest.

Recommended preparation

No previous knowledge of audiology is required. The intent of the course is to prepare students to select a focus within the area of speech and hearing sciences and to explore options within the field of audiology.

Class assignments and grading

Weekly assignmed experiences in the greater Seattle area. Log of cases seen and interactions with professionals.

Completion of assigned experiences and accompanying log. Participation in group discussions.
