Class description

This course is an introduction to the broad field of linguistics, designed specifically for students in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Course topics will include the nature and structure of human language (sounds, words, sentences, and meaning), psycholinguistics, language change and variation, and other related topics. Emphasis will be on the structure and analysis of English as it pertains to the identification and understanding of the differences between normal and disordered speech and language.
