Class description
This graduate seminar will explore the role of classroom interaction in second/foreign language development. The course is taught by two professors, Ana Fernández Dobao and Amy Snyder Ohta, whose research examines how learners develop facility in foreign language via interaction. The seminar will consider various research perspectives, beginning with interactionism and moving to sociocultural approaches. Students will collect their own classroom interactive data and do their own small investigative studies as final projects for the course.
