Introduction to Hispanic Cultural Studies

Introduces students to elite, mass, and folk cultures of Latin America, Spain, and Latinos in the United States. Sample topics include transculturation, globalization, border culture, and relations between culture, democratization, and human rights. Class description

Introduces students to the theories of cultural studies and their application to various expressions of popular culture in Spain and Latin America. Sample topics include race, gender and visual culture.
