Interpretations of urban reformers at turn of this century and during 1960s and 1970s. Historical and political science literature on the subject. Prerequisite: permission of instructor.
Class description
Description. This course focuses on urban politics and periodic cycles of reform. It takes up historical and contemporary reform movements, competing theoretical understandings of urban politics and change measures, and aims for a broader understanding of the roles played by race, economics, ethnicity, labor, and business in the reform process.

Assignments. Grades will be determined by student performance on a series of short, critical papers, and a more extended term paper.
