Modern Physics

Special theory of relativity; phenomena of modern physics with emphasis on photons, electrons, and atoms; introduction to quantum physics. Prerequisite: 2.0 in PHYS 123 which may be taken concurrently. Offered: WSpS.

Class description

Basic Quantum Mechanics and applications. Polarized Photons, Quantum Cryptography, Spin, Precession in magnetic field, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (MRI), other Two State Systems, Tunneling
