Seminar in Epistemology

Class description

Contemporary Debates in Epistemology (edited by Steup and Sosa) is a recent collections of debates between major epistemologists on some of the main issues in the field. In this seminar, we will work through the various debates in this volume, one per week, trying to understand both the issues involved in each case and the ways in which the issues in different debates relate to each other. For each week except the first, two students will be assigned to represent the two sides in that week’s debate, making short presentations and replying to each other’s arguments. In addition to these presentations, enrolled students will be required to write a term paper on one of the main issues (or some related topic).
