Philosophy of Human Rights

Theories of human rights and the bearing of these theories on issues of public policy such as legitimacy of war and terrorism, economic justice, and whether future generations have rights.

Class description

The main objective of this course is to understand the philosophical issues of human rights theory and practice. Topics discussed in the course will include the foundation of human rights, cultural diversity and universality of human rights, and humanitarian intervention.
