Modern Philosophy

Examination of metaphysical and epistemological problems from the works of Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, and Kant.

Class description

In this course we survey the philosophical theories of knowledge, mind and reality developed by major European philosophers of the 17th and 18th century occasioned by the emerging Galilean-Newtonian scientific world-view.
