Introduction to Philosophy

Major philosophical questions relating to such matters as the existence of God, the foundations of knowledge, the nature of reality, and the nature of morality. Approach may be either historical or topical. Offered: AWSpS.

Class description

This course is a topical introduction to major issues in Western philosophy. We'll attempt in-depth exploration of foundational readings in philosophy of religion, philosophy of mind, free will and moral responsibility, and what is commonly called "The Good Life".

No prerequisites are required to take the course. The course is suitable for newcomers to philosophy. All that is required on behalf of a student is patience and diligence as the course material promises to be rather challenging.
