Study of medical devices commonly provided by pharmacists to their patients, including their selection and adaptation for specific patient needs. Lectures include display and demonstration of actual devices.
Class description
The purpose of this course is to help students become familiar with medical devices used by consumers in home health care. Pharmacists and pharmacy students are frequently consulted about these products and are expected to have at least minimal expertise in their safe and appropriate use. Special emphasis will be placed on student understanding of the relationship between the patient’s medical condition, the medical device and the provision of pharmaceutical care.
