Introduction to Mozart's music and to musical life in Habsburg Austria during the Enlightenment. Mozart's musical personality studied through masterpieces in all genres, with principal emphasis on listening. Ability to read music not required.
Class description
"MOZART." This course offers a survey of Mozart's music for non-majors, and will not involve musical notation. We will examine representative symphonies, sonatas, chamber works, masses, concertos, and operas, exploring the aesthetic, social, and intellectual context in which these masterpieces emerged.
