Part-Time Student Teaching in Music

Supervised teaching internship. Directed observations of distinguished teachers in an elementary or secondary music setting. Weekly seminars. Credit/no-credit only. Offered: AWSp.

Class description

This course will stimulate thinking regarding issues of music teaching and learning, particularly in relationship to your development as teachers. Students will develop and apply the practical skills that are necessary for effective music teaching in a classroom setting. Students will also be prepared for the job hunt process, learning how to search for positions and having appropriate materials ready for applications. Additionally, seminar participants will their improve classroom/rehearsal teaching via video observation, reflection, goal setting, and peer and self-evaluation.
