Multicultural Resources for Youth

Facilitates development of cross-cultural competence through authentic resources for children, tweens, and teens produced by or about ethnic minorities in the United States. "Issues" focus, providing knowledge in critical examination of various genres of multicultural resources as well as in strategies to use them.

Class description

This course encourages identification of and deliberations about issues relevant to the development of cross-cultural competence in relation to U.S. ethnic minorities through authentic resources for youth. To facilitate this, it provides knowledge and skill development in location, selection, evaluation, and discussion of various genres and formats of multicultural resources as well as in strategies to use them with youth. It relates cross-cultural competence to meeting information needs of children and young adults through library and information collection development and services.
