Class description

This course uses JavaScript to introduce students to computer programming for the Web environment.

Student learning goals

General method of instruction

Lectures, Web exercises, individual and team projects, other.

Recommended preparation

Students should be comfortable handcoding HTML, understand XHTML, and be familiar working in a command line environment with UNIX/Linux tools and utilities (especially ftp). Students should have either "Introduction to Web Publishing" (UWEO course LIS 498TG) or its equivalent.

Class assignments and grading

Skill-building activities and exercises designed to promote good coding habits and understanding.

Attendance and participation in class activities and mastery of material as evidenced by assignments and projects.
