Class description

This course is the Information Assurance capstone course for those charged with responsibility for the security of information systems. Mastering this material will prepare the IA professional for the role of CISO. Students will be presented with real-world IA cases and required to analyze and propose resolution for problems presented in these cases. Students will also work on a group project assigned to the entire class and present their findings to executive staff of the company working with the class.

Student learning goals

General method of instruction

Students will analyze cases presented by top professionals in information assurance.

Recommended preparation

Three preceeding classes in the IA certificate program. SANS policy papers online.

Class assignments and grading

Analysis of cases presented, exercises with industry professionals and cooperative educational programs e.g. Westpoint's Information Warfare exercises.

Team participation, presentation of analysis, class participation.
