Class description
Course Description: Introduces a range of usability research methods used in the product-development process: contextual inquiry, surveys and interviews, focus groups, user profiling, usability testing, cognitive walkthroughs, heuristic evaluations, and others. Students learn the strengths and weaknesses of each method and the phase of development when it is most appropriate. Students come away with an understanding of how to use several techniques (including contextual inquiry and usability testing).

Grading Criteria: · Class participation—25% of grade · Weekly Readings Overview (3 paragraphs)—25% of grade o Summary of reading assignments o One critical thought/impression on each of the readings o One burning question about one of the readings · Group Project o Usability Test Design (due May 29th)—25% of grade o Written Usability Summary Report of Findings (due June 1st) and Class PowerPoint Presentation (present on June 1st or June 8th)—25% of grade
