Web Tools and Development

Introduction to fundamental web technologies with an emphasis on scripting and programming. Includes both client and server technologies. Examines effective information architecture for websites, information presentation on web pages, privacy policies, and web security. Prerequisite: CSE 142; INFO 343.

Class description

In this class we will explore the server-side of the web, focusing on Apache, PHP and MySQL. We will also examine how the server communicates with the client, and how we can request and manipulate served data with JavaScript. We will then dive into an MVC framework and the cloud.
