The History of Western Civilization from its origin to the fall of Rome.

Student learning goals

To be more knowledgeable about the ancient world

Learn to think more objectively

Learn to write more clearly

Develop study habits that are better and more effective

Improve ability to be able to critique what you read

Appreciate the fact that "the past is a foreign country, they do things differently there."

Recommended preparation

Any prior reading of ancient authors (i.e., a Greek playwright) would be useful.
