Class description
Students should expect to learn more about the University of Washington and about themselves as a first year college students. We will explore not just the opportunities that lie on campus, but also the ones of the greater Seattle area.
Student learning goals
General method of instruction
Very little lecture. Most of the learning is through discussion by the students and short homework assignments. There are also complimentary field trips. All the learning during the quarter is presented at the end in a portfolio presented to the class.
Recommended preparation
Non necessary.
Class assignments and grading
Short homework question designed to provoke thought. Short research projects. The portfolio containing all your work and turned in at the end.
Completion of the hw, attendance and of course the portfolio, which has to be completed in order that the student receives credit.
