Group seminars, or individual conferences, are scheduled under this number to meet special needs. Prerequisite: permission of the Graduate Program Coordinator.

Class description

Winter 2014 Both theoretical and practical, this course covers the fundamentals of qualitative research methods. Throughout the course, we will discuss different forms of qualitative data (field notes, case studies, interviews, participant observation) and explore various types of data analysis (thematic, content, discourse analysis). With the tools acquired in this course, students will then design and implement a small-scale qualitative study as well as analyze that data collected. The primary goal of this course is to train students in developing research questions and conducting fieldwork.
