James B. Wirth
ENGL 111
Seattle Campus

Composition: Literature

Study and practice of good writing; topics derived from reading and discussing stories, poems, essays, and plays. Cannot be taken if student has already received a grade of 2.0 or higher in either ENGL 111, ENGL 121, or ENGL 131.

Class description

In addition to the typical material covered in a composition class, this course will be focusing on contemporary American poetry as its source material. The goal of this course is to make this material feel present and useful in our lives and to dispel any views of poetry being stuffy and written by long dead men. Fair warning!
